Current Event #13: CoronaVirus

The CoronaVirus or covid-19 is the biggest outbreak since some of these diseases like the Zika outbreak in Central and South America, the global SARS outbreak and the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. So far in the U.S there have been 988K confirmed cases of covid-19. But globally there have been 2.99 million cases and still spreading. More recently It has been confirmed President Trump and Pence are being tested weekly for coronavirus. Also in New York city, where the most cases are in the world, they are starting self-swab testing which will make testing people more efficient. Hopefully scientists will create a vaccine soon and we will be able to return to school.  Covid-19 was first found in China in December 2019. It was said to come from a snake, bat, or some other animal. From there it started a huge outbreak and has affected many people's lives. The world is now shut down and people like me and many others are not going to school and working. Everyone is also taking safety

Current Event #12: “Woman who survived Down East shootings that killed 3 released from hospital”

Regina Long survived the shooting on February 3rd claimed she lived out of three other people and has been released from a Portland hospital. She has been treated and discharged from Maine Medical Center in Portland, a spokesman at the hospital said Thursday. Regina was shot Feb. 3 in Machias at the Kennebec Road home she shared with Shawn Currey who was shot and killed in the same shooting. Two other people were also killed in this incident, Jennifer Bryant-Flynn and Samuel Powers. All were allegedly killed at the hands of Thomas Gerard Bonfanti. The Police have not yet revealed details about the possible motive for the killings.  The people killed in this shooting were only 57, 49, 33. They had a lot of there life left to live. It is sad only one person survived in this shooting. Bonfanti’s criminal history states a Washington County jury found him guilty in April 2007. This was resulted in a 90-day license suspension and $600 fine, according to the Maine State Bureau

Current Event #11: "Huge jump in coronavirus cases and deaths in China as the U.S. confirms 15th case"

Doctors in China found a way of diagnosing coronavirus, leading to a huge jump in the number of deaths blamed on the disease and the number of confirmed cases in the country. The virus is believed to have jumped into the human population from wild animals, there has been a reported 254 new deaths and 15,152 new cases of the flu-like virus. The largest of the coronavirus cases outside of China, has been a cruise ship that has been quarantined for almost two weeks in Japan. Also Six health workers have already died from this unwelcome virus. Authorities in China have been rushing to Equip protective equipment to Wuhan's hospitals, where doctors and nurses have been overwhelmed by the growing number of patients. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns the deadly outbreak of coronavirus could continue into next year, when will this end.  This outbreak has caused many people to die and has begun to spread to other countries including the U.S. One student at

Current Event #10: Kobe Bryant's Death

Kobe,41, along with his 13-year-old daughter, Gigi, was killed along with 7 other people on there way to a youth basketball academy when they crashed. The helicopter had been given special approval to fly in the foggy weather. A witness says the fog was “as thick as swimming in a pool of milk.” The helicopter crashed on Sunday at 10.00 pm with Kobe Bryant and eight other people on board, killing everyone. L.A.P.D. helicopters do not generally fly under those conditions. The visibility was less than two and a half miles from the department’s heliport near Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. The other passengers included the pilot, Ara Zobayan; the college baseball coach John Altobelli and Altobelli’s wife, Keri, and daughter Alyssa; Christina Mauser, a basketball coach; and Sarah and Payton Chester, a mother and daughter who lived in Orange County. Current Event #9: "Marissa Kennedy’s mother accuses husband of torturing child and her"

10-year-old Marissa Kennedy was killed last February 2019. Before her death, she was forced to take off her clothes and pose naked with her mother, Sharon Carrillo, while Carrillo’s husband, Julio, physically and sexually assaulted them. Marissa was abused for months before she was found dead a year ago, allegedly at the hands of her mother and stepfather. People Argue whether Sharon should be charged with felony though she was still a victim of being tortured. A cell phone photo, recovered by police, illustrates Marissa, who appears to be 10 years old, and her mother visibly pregnant, according to the court filing.  This is a very sad and awful story. Marissa was held by her parents and assaulted until a terrible death at only at the age of 10. No one should ever be put through this treatment and Marissa wasn't the only one abused. Her mother, Sharon Carrillo, was also put through this treatment. Even though Sharon was a victim she too had a part in her daughter's death. W

Current Event #8: Donald Trump Faces Impeachment

Donald Trump is the third president to face impeachment in 240 years. Andrew Johnson had been impeached in 1868. He was accused of dismissing his secretary of war against the will of Congress. The second president that faced impeachment was Bill Clinton who found himself impeached after he lied about the nature of his affair with Monica Lewinsky. -To impeach means to bring charges in Congress that will form the basis for a trial- Trump was accused of violating the nation's trust and his oath to preserve, protect and defend constitutional values. President Trump was impeached on December 18, 2019, for this reason. He had pressured Ukraine to dig up information on one of his main Democratic challengers for the presidency this year. Current Event #7: " This 5-year-old boy's entire kindergarten class showed up for his adoption hearing"

Boy brings his entire kindergarten class to his adoption hearing on Thursday in Kent County, 36 children became part of their forever homes. One boy Michel invited his class to be part of this adoption day on the 5th of December this year. All his classmates showed up with heart signs to show how much they cared about him and to celebrate. Kent County's Facebook page shared a photo from Clark's hearing and captioned "Michael brought his entire kindergarten class with him today to witness his adoption."   "I love my daddy," he told WZZM . "I love my daddy so much." After they slammed the gavel it became official. Thursday was the 23rd annual Adoption Day in Kent County. The event was put on by the Family Division of the Circuit Court in Kent County and Presided Judge Deborah L. McNabb and Judges TJ Ackert, Christina Elmore, Kathleen A. Feeney, Patricia D.
